It’s not that auto save is bad, it’s that it a) they removed the manual save and b) it doesn’t work properly. Three times now I’ve lost progress on XBox because the system said my save data has changed and it needs to quit the app. Only to have deleted the last entire mission! 2.

To make sure you saved, hit the save and then back out of the menu back into the game then hit start again and the “save” option will disappear confirming that your game is saved and does not need to be saved again. 1. It does have a manuel save but cant do it during a mission. One time this glitched for me and i couldn't save at all. Make sure you've done all missions and do a couple close to you , let it autosave and hope it unglitches itself. Restart after autosave and then save option should be back in pause screen. This. Well, damn. Accidentally pressed submit as I was modifying the title. Should be; "Far Cry 4 keeps replacing a backup of an older save with my current brand new no-progress save." Essentially; I played for a good 10+ hours before I decided to let my friend play when he was over at my house.
Once on the pause menu, scroll down to near the bottom of the list and choose Save. This will save the game, wherever you are at the time of saving. A small symbol of three moving dots will appear
